Bright Night Providence is at a crossroads.
In 2003, First Night Providence announce that it couldn't go forward due to financial constraints.
The performers of Rhode Island stepped forward, refusing to let a 19 year tradition die, and created a slimmed down and streamlined festival that has been operating in the black for the last 6 years.
During that time period, we've employed hundreds of local artists, and over 100,000 people have enjoyed our family-friendly shows and events on New Year's Eve.
This year, we are financially constrained again.
Our largest sponsor, the City of Providence has informed us that, due to the economy, there is no more money left in their budget for Bright Night.
Their contribution for this year's event will be $ 0.
The Bright Night performers still don't want to let this 26 year tradition die.
We are committed to keeping this tradition alive.
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.
We need to raise $40,000 in the next 30 days.
Our goal is to get you and 2009 of your closest friends to give $20 each, and have each person tell 10 people about our cause.
GIVE $20, TELL 10.
Of course, we’ll accept more from individuals,
and we’ll accept less too.
Any donation you can give will be greatly appreciated in making this New Year’s Eve a Bright Night.
